‘Game Of Thrones’ eligibility required for a role in ‘Terminator’

HBO’s juggernaut hit “Game of Thrones” has just ended, and the show’s principal characters Lena Headey as Cersei Lancaster, and Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen have a lot more in common with terminating robots of the future than most.

“Game of Thrones” has been on the air since 2011, that is four years on the air, with six seasons under its belt already. Headey and Clarke have been working before then: Headey in Fox TV’s “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” and Clarke in bit parts in TV movies and shows.

As Clarke will play the famous Sarah Connor, the mother of John Connor and subsequent birther of the revolution against the rise of Skynet in “Terminator Genisys,” Headey – back in 2008 to 2009 – also played another version of Sarah on the aforementioned “Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

For two seasons, Headey’s Sarah Connor – which took place two years after “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” – and her son saw themselves travelling from the past in the 1990s to the future, after 2001. In their distant future they have a female Terminator protecting a teenage John. Resistance followers traveling from the future to their timeline, more Terminators trying to kill them; and Brian Austin Green, from “Beverly Hills 90210,” behaving like a militant.

While the show only lasted for two seasons, it became part of the canon. Headey fully embodied Sarah: her angst, her lack of trust, and her one and only motive, fight the future.

It will be exciting to see what Clarke’s Sarah will be like in the upcoming “Terminator Genisys,” out July 1st, 2015.

Netflix really loves “The Maze Runner” Stars

The US box office hit – book-to-film adaptation – “The Maze Runner,” and its stars have found love and support on the streaming giant Netflix. Aml Ameen, who played the leader of the group Alby, and Ki Hong Lee as Minho as the lead maze runner, are both starring in hits on the international online TV shows and movie giant.

It is unclear if Ameen and Lee did this intentionally, or if the pair have the same agent. In any case, they both gave compelling and award winning performances in their action packed movie, and they are continuing great performances once more.

Ameen is part of an ensemble cast in “Sense 8.” The 12 episode series centers on people, from all over the world, who are able to psychically connect to each other through thoughts, knowledge, actions, abilities, emotions and memories. It is created by The Wachowski’s, who brought “The Matrix” trilogy and “Cloud Atlas,” among others; and J. Michael Straczynski, he created the 1990s science fiction TV hit “Babylon 5.”

Ameen plays Capheus aka Van Damme, a bus driver and owner who shuttles people in and around Nairobi. Ameen deals with gangs, competition, and helping his mother who is suffering from AIDS. Ameen plays the role innocently, and also with imbued strength and willingness to not only survive, but to be a better man for himself and his mother.

“Sense 8” has yet to be officially confirmed that it will be greenlight for a second season.

“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” has already gotten a second season in its 13 episode season. From the creators of “30 Rock,” Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, it stars Ellie Kemper as Kimmy Schmidt, who along with three other women, are rescued from a doomsday cult. The four women were living in a bunker for 15 years along with their cult leader.

Kimmy decides to stay in New York City to start her life all over again. The show also stars Jane Krakowski, Titus Burgess, and Lee in a supporting role.

Lee as Dong at first plays Jimmy’s classmate in her GED class. Then they become “study buddies” because Kimmy needs help with math. Kimmy, in her innocence, does not see the racist connotations of her seeking help from Lee who happens to be Asian. The pair’s relationship grows.

In any case, Lee as Dong, who is Vietnamese and does not quite understand American culture much like Kimmy, is funny and endearing as Kimmy’s love interest. Lee is leading man material.

Ameen and Lee are making Netflix shows more worthwhile and entertaining to watch.

First Look Photos of the new “Ghostbusters” rebooted film

The 1980s are reborn again in the rebooted hit of that era with “Ghostbusters,” now starring Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristin Wiig, Leslie Jones and Cecily Strong. It was announced late last month.

Now, they are official behind the scenes pictures from the upcoming film starring the aforementioned ladies and alums of “Saturday Night Live.” Directing this movie will be Paul Feig, who brought “Bridesmaids,” “The Heat” and the most recent box office hit “Spy” that starred McCarthy in all three.

The above set pictures seem to show McKinnon and McCarthy on a case. And another picture shows Wiig now arriving to meet the ghost busting ladies for the first time. This is all speculative.

But Feig promises that this “Ghostbusters” will be scarier than the original.

Enjoy the images. The film also stars Chris Hemsworth, from “The Avengers” and “Thor” films; he will reportedly be playing the secretary.

Happy GLBT Pride month everyone. In the interest and support of the GLBT community, OUT Magazine released this week it’s top 100 gay entertainers, athletes, and designers. They are some that include who came out this year, some you may have already known, but others that you may have had no idea about.

Here is a glimpse of a few of them in no particular order. Be sure to visit the website below this article. This is Part 3 of the 100 chosen.

The singers, dancers and comedians of film and TV include Neil Patrick Harris and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and they have earned their place in the pantheon of entertainment. Harris has literally grown before our eyes in “Doogie Howser,” and then took off from there with the “Harold and Kumar go to WhiteCastle” movies, as well as “How I Met Your Mother.” Harris is also a Broadway icon and is active in the GLBT community.

Ferguson like Harris has gotten his stardom in doing many TV shows, but it was with “Modern Family” that brought him into our homes and hearts. Ferguson has guest judged on reality shows such as “Project Runway” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” Ferguson is also popular with his tie brand “Tie The Knot” which supports GLBT rights and marriage equality.

More in entertainment,Β  Colman Domingo is a TV, film and Broadway actor. Domingo is also a writer, playwright, and director. He wrote and starred in his one-man autobiographical play “A Boy and his Soul,” which won a GLAAD Award in 2011 for Outstanding Off-Broadway theater. Colman also starred in the second and third season of “The Big Gay Sketch Show” on Logo TV.

Also in entertainment, from behind the camera, there is Gregg Araki. Araki is an iconic filmmaker, he directed the movie “Kaboom,” which won – at the 2010 Cannes film festival – the first ever Cannes Film Festival Queer Palm Award. Araki has gone on to direct other GLBT films from “The Long Weekend,” “The Doom Generation” and “Nowhere.” All of those movies followed a theme of teenagers, and GLBT life. Araki has worked with Rose McGowan, John Krazinsky, and others.

In broadcast there is Thomas Roberts. Roberts has had an illustrious career as a TV journalist; he started out on CNN, and continued on “The Insider,” and is now currently on MSNBC. Roberts came out in 2006 at a conference for the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. He was approached in 2005 by People magazine to be one their 50 Sexist Bachelors, but he declined.

And in sports, there is Michael Sam. [Michael Sam is misidentified as Sam Smith in the above photograph]. Sam became the first openly gay football athlete to be drafted by the NFL. He has played a defensive lineman throughout his football career.

Sam made his first NFL debut in August 2014 with the New Orleans Saints. In that same year, he received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2014 ESPY Awards. And he was named GQ’s Men of the Year.

As of May 2015, Sam has signed a two year football contract with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.

Part 2: Top 100 OUT Gay Athletes, Entertainers, and Designers At a Glance

Happy GLBT Pride month everyone. In the interest and support of the GLBT community, OUT Magazine released this week it’s top 100 gay entertainers, athletes, and designers. They are some that include who came out this year, some you may have already known, but others that you may have had no idea about.

Here is a glimpse of a few of them in no particular order. Be sure to visit the website below this article. This is Part 2 of the 100 chosen.

Designer and fashion icon Alexander Wang, 31, is one of the youngest fashion designers some have seen. Wang is the creative director of one of the biggest fashion houses, Balenciaga.

From fashion to sports, Gareth Thomas is a former Welsh professional rugby player. Thomas represented Welsh, and he is known internationally in the rugby world. Thomas came out publicly back in 2009. Thomas has stated, in an interview with Ellen Degeneress, that his teammates were very supportive when he told them that he was gay.

From sports to TV and film, actors Darryl Stephens and Wilson Cruz have worked together on the hit show “Noah’s Arc.” Cruz comes from the “Party of Five” cast, he is HIV+, and he is involved heavily in GLBT community activities and HIV action. Cruz has also starred in some TV shows and movies.

Stephens got his acclaim from “Noah’s Arc,” and he has continued playing complex GLBT roles; he starred in the short lived series “Downtown LA,” guest starred on “Two Broke Girls,” and is currently working on an entertainment project.

From one entertainment art form to another, Frank Ocean is a rapper, singer and songwriter. He has worked with the likes of Kanye West and Jay-Z. Ocean was perhaps the first African American hip hop artist to be open about his sexuality. Both Jay-Z and Beyonce, as well as Russell Simmons – the hip hop mogul and business magnate – were all supportive of Ocean’s openness.

Entertainers are sometimes needed to give some politicians visibility. Within the last 10 years they have been more openly GLBT politicians than ever before. One of the more active ones is Brian K. Sims. At the age of 36, Sims is one of the youngest Democratic senators of the 182nd district for Pennsylvania; and he is the first openly gay elected official in Pennsylvania history.

Sims is a lawyer and activist on GLBT rights.
